Melanies March came about when I was talking with Antoinette Kraus, one of our PA health care organizers, about what to do next on the health care campaign and she said, “We’ve done everything except walk to Washington and that would be crazy.”

I said, “It might not be crazy at all. If we get a small group of people to make the trip, we might inspire a lot of people to take action on health care reform.”

That was our plan, and we’re pleased to see it’s starting to work. Melanie’s March is growing. Here are a variety of ways that help make to make it grow further.

1. Spread the word. Whatever else you do, tell your friends about Melanie’s March.

• Use twitter. If you write your own tweet use the #melaniesmarch hashtag
• Spread the word with Facebook  
• Or just do it the old fashioned way….send an email.

2. Come out to one of events in Maryland between today and Tuesday evening.

3. Join us for the last legs of the March in Washington on February 24th. You can do so at College Park at 8:30 for the last eight miles or at Union Station at 12:30 for the last mile and final event. We are expecting hundreds of people at Union Station and for the event in Room G50 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Senators Casey and Specter of Pennsylvania will be joining us as will Melanie Shouse’s Representative, Lacy Clay, and possibly some members of the Senate or House leadership.

4. Join the Virtual March. On February 24th, together with allies from labor unions, progressive blogs, Health Care for America Now MoveOn is organizing a massive day of action: the Virtual March for Real Health Care Reform. The goal is to send one million messages to Congress that day. We’ll call, fax, email, tweet, blog, Facebook—everything we can think of—to make sure Congress knows voters want health reform this year.  Click the link below—it’ll sign you up and send a fax in your name to your senators.  http://pol.moveon.org/virtualmarch10/

5. Make a contribution. We need to raise money for, among other things, bringing more people to our final event. You can contribute to the March directly on website
